Judy Dorland (she/her)

Miss Judy is the founding Teacher and Artistic Director of Strive Dance Academy.                            She brings many years of excellence as a dance educator, dance examiner, choreographer, costume and prop specialist. She is an accredited Teacher and Examiner for the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (A.D.A.P.T.)

Miss Judy has taught Tap, Jazz, Highland, Musical Theatre and Adagio dance for over 48 years. Presently she teaches Jazz and Musical Theatre.

Her students have gone on to pursue many different walks of life with a select few working in the world of professional dance. She owned and operated Dancentral Studio for 26 years which was located in the building Strive makes its home in today.

She also trained Miss Taiya, Miss Jenna Lee, Miss Kim, Miss Allison and Miss Jaimie. Miss Judy is extremely proud of all Strive Teachers and the important work that they do and everything that they stand for.

In 2014 she handed the Artistic Directorship over to Miss Hannah and is excited to see Strive Dance Academy’s continued growth and development under Miss Hannah’s leadership.

Miss Judy acts as Mentor to all Strive Teachers although she is the first to say that the Strive Teaching Team together has both enlightened and inspired her. Strive teachers work together with a common goal. This goal is to provide quality training to all Strive students in a safe and structured environment.

Miss Judy has been married for 47 years and has two grown sons, 2 beautiful daughter in laws and 4 precious grandchildren.

In her spare time Miss Judy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exercise, art, golfing, hiking and skiing.

Having the absolute privilege of watching so many kids grow up and develop into such amazing people has brought and continues to bring a lifetime of happiness to Miss Judy.
