DANCE EDUCATOR

Jacquie Januska (she/her)

Jacquie has been teaching dancing for 29 years. She owned and operated Red Deer School of Highland Dancing for several decades where she successfully trained dancers to compete at the provincial and national levels. With a strong focus on technique, work ethic, and breaking down movements, Jacquie uses her ballet training to enhance her highland classes with the foundation of dance.

Jacquie obtained her teaching license with the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance (SDTA) in 1994 and received her judging certification in 2003 with the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD). Since then, she has judged multiple competitions and championships across North America and has also been invited to be a guest lecturer to other professionals. Jacquie is a past president and current member of Scotdance Alberta, and a long-time member with Scotdance Canada. She has successfully put multiple students through graded SDTA exams, and many of her students have gone on to receive their professional teacher licenses.

Jacquie holds a Bachelor of Education degree with a minor in Developmental Psychology and enjoys continual learning in the psychology training of athletic performance. She is looking forward to being part of the ballet program at Strive.
